Recycled exhibition stand becomes an outdoor classroom

Llangewydd Junior School in Bridgend has recycled an old Urdd Eisteddfod exhibition stand for storytelling, art classes and science lessons.  With Astro turf ‘grass’ on the outside walls and fabric ‘trees’ inside, Llangewydd Junior School’s brand new outdoor classroom is the perfect place for learning about the environment!

Inside the new outdoor classroom there is a log circle.  The indoord ‘trees’ are covered with 350 leaves made out of pupils’ and teachers’ hand-prints hanging from the tree branches.

The Mayor of Bridgend County Borough officially opened the new classroom this week, and Head teacher Sue Davies said: “We are extremely excited about our new outdoor classroom, which is the first of its kind in Wales.

Recycled Green Exhibition Stand

The Mayor, Councillor Richard Young, said: “This new outdoor classroom has so much potential to enrich the learning experiences of pupils at Llangewydd Junior School. Members of the school’s eco-committee have been integral to the project and it was great to meet with them and see first-hand the enthusiasm and passion that they have for the environment and all things green.”

Recycling has become an extremely important issue for the exhibitions industry. Huge volumes of material are simply thrown away every show; carpets, graphics, leaflets as well as entire exhibition stands.

Our own range of modular exhibition stands are designed to be re-used multiple times. Configurable for any floor space or ceiling height, our solutions enable organisations to minimise both wastage and their own carbon footprint.

This is why we’re extremely pleased to hear about projects such as this.  Well done to Urdd Eisteddfod and Llangewydd Junior School for coming up with this fantastic idea!

If you have an old exhibition which you would like to see re-used for a similar project, we would love to hear from you. Get in touch with 200m2 Exhibitions if we can help in any way.

Merkel & Obama visit IFM’s exhibition stand

The American President (Barack Obama) and the German Chancellor (Angela Merkel) visited the exhibition stand of the ifm group of companies at the Hannover Messe on 25 April.

During their opening tour, the President of this year’s partner country (the USA), enquired about the medium-sized company’s strategic orientation. In response, Michael Marhofer, Chairman of the ifm Group explained “We develop today modern sensors, systems and software that communicate with each other according the principles of Industry 4.0 and that trigger and control processes”.

The ifm group of companies is considered to be one of the world market leaders in its industry. Very early, the company also made progress at an international level. Chancellor Merkel and President Obama as well as the other delegation members were particularly interested in the new 3D camera systems for quick identification of 3D scenes and automatic object recognition. Mrs Merkel and Mr Obama also tested a 3D ‘virtual reality’ camera developed by the ifm subsidiary pmdtechnologies. “It’s a brave new world.” said Mr Obama after a successful handshake with Mrs Merkel in virtual space.

For the Hanover Messe exhibition, ifm used a curved ‘pop-up’ exhibition stand very similar to our own Centro model.  Quick to dismantle, our Centro displays can be packed away in just a few minutes into the wheeled carry case which converts into a counter (like the one in the photo above).

Rugby Expo moves exhibition stands to the Ricoh Arena

Rugby Expo, the largest B2B conference and exhibition focused on rugby, has agreed a new partnership with Wasps Rugby Club that will see the event move to Coventry’s Ricoh Arena in 2016. The new three-year agreement is designed to support the growth plans of the event.

Jonathan Wilson, event director for Rugby Expo, said: “We are really excited by the opportunity presented to us by Wasps when we first initiated conversations to move the event to the Ricoh Arena. We want to create a truly national event and welcome more clubs from both the professional game and community game, grow the number of exhibitors and exhibition stands and moving to the Ricoh Arena helps facilitates this growth.

Rugby Expo confirms three-year partnership with Ricoh Arena
“We have always had a good working relationship with Twickenham Experience but in order to achieve our ambitions we had to move the event as we have simply reached capacity after five years of selling out all the available exhibition stands while at Twickenham.

“Having met with David Armstrong, Andy Gibb and their team, we are very confident the club will get right behind the event and work with us and our existing partners to build on the platform we have created, as we look to maximise the potential of Rugby Expo over the next three years.”

Moving the event to the Midlands will widen the reach of Rugby Expo, with 75 per cent of the country within a 2-hour drive of the stadium.

Wasps Group CEO, David Armstrong, said: “We are delighted that the Ricoh Arena has been chosen to host Rugby Expo for the foreseeable future. The Ricoh Arena is the perfect environment in which to bring together sport and business and we look forward to welcoming a range of rugby businesses and supporters, from both the elite and community based game. We are fortunate that the Ricoh Arena has a large-scale capacity and are excited about working with Rugby Expo to help grow an event which has already expanded significantly over the past few years.
