Five reasons why you should use an Exhibition Contractor

It’s the age old business question. Should I outsource a part of my business activity to a specialist company or opt for the in-house ‘Do It Yourself’ (DIY) option?

When ‘weighing up’ the costs of exhibiting at a show, you may be tempted to go down the cheaper route of ‘doing it yourself’.  Perhaps someone in your team can put together a design.  You know a handy man that does a bit of carpentry that will build a stand for you and you know a printer that will print some posters.  You can then turn up at the venue on the morning of the show, set up your stand and away you go!

However, a few ‘blue tacked’ posters stuck to the back wall of a shell scheme, an old trestle table with table cloth and few scattered exhibits doesn’t create a very good first impression.  The lack of planning and investment stands reflects badly on the professionalism of the exhibitor.

“You will never get a second chance to make a good first impression.”

Every time you approach a new show, it is always useful to remember the age old adage “You never get a second chance to make a first impression”. At no time is this more relevant than the moment a prospective customer walks past your exhibition stand. Using a professional company who only works in the exhibition space will ensure your stand makes that crucial first impression a very positive one.

So why should you use a contractor over the DIY option?

  1. We know what works: Exhibition stands need to be creative and effective to enable you to get the results you want. A good stand builder will know what works, will have an eye for detail and will be familiar with all the pitfalls.
  2. Health & Safety: A good stand builder will ensure your stand complies with all current regulations and will  submit all necessary relevant documentation including CDM2015 compliance statements.
  3. Scheduling: Exhibition stands cannot be late. Whether your stand is ready or not, the show will open! A good contractor will leave nothing to chance ensuring your stand is ready ahead of schedule.
  4. Time Management: Engaging an exhibition stand contractor to build your stand will allow your internal team to get on with what they do best. You wouldn’t ask a postman to fix your car!
  5. Focus on ROI not Cost: Understanding the value of an exhibition is crucial. A good contractor will understand your need to demonstrate results and will work with you to deliver a range of positive outcomes. After all, it’s in the contractors best interests for your show to succeed!

Merkel & Obama visit IFM’s exhibition stand

The American President (Barack Obama) and the German Chancellor (Angela Merkel) visited the exhibition stand of the ifm group of companies at the Hannover Messe on 25 April.

During their opening tour, the President of this year’s partner country (the USA), enquired about the medium-sized company’s strategic orientation. In response, Michael Marhofer, Chairman of the ifm Group explained “We develop today modern sensors, systems and software that communicate with each other according the principles of Industry 4.0 and that trigger and control processes”.

The ifm group of companies is considered to be one of the world market leaders in its industry. Very early, the company also made progress at an international level. Chancellor Merkel and President Obama as well as the other delegation members were particularly interested in the new 3D camera systems for quick identification of 3D scenes and automatic object recognition. Mrs Merkel and Mr Obama also tested a 3D ‘virtual reality’ camera developed by the ifm subsidiary pmdtechnologies. “It’s a brave new world.” said Mr Obama after a successful handshake with Mrs Merkel in virtual space.

For the Hanover Messe exhibition, ifm used a curved ‘pop-up’ exhibition stand very similar to our own Centro model.  Quick to dismantle, our Centro displays can be packed away in just a few minutes into the wheeled carry case which converts into a counter (like the one in the photo above).

Rugby Expo moves exhibition stands to the Ricoh Arena

Rugby Expo, the largest B2B conference and exhibition focused on rugby, has agreed a new partnership with Wasps Rugby Club that will see the event move to Coventry’s Ricoh Arena in 2016. The new three-year agreement is designed to support the growth plans of the event.

Jonathan Wilson, event director for Rugby Expo, said: “We are really excited by the opportunity presented to us by Wasps when we first initiated conversations to move the event to the Ricoh Arena. We want to create a truly national event and welcome more clubs from both the professional game and community game, grow the number of exhibitors and exhibition stands and moving to the Ricoh Arena helps facilitates this growth.

Rugby Expo confirms three-year partnership with Ricoh Arena
“We have always had a good working relationship with Twickenham Experience but in order to achieve our ambitions we had to move the event as we have simply reached capacity after five years of selling out all the available exhibition stands while at Twickenham.

“Having met with David Armstrong, Andy Gibb and their team, we are very confident the club will get right behind the event and work with us and our existing partners to build on the platform we have created, as we look to maximise the potential of Rugby Expo over the next three years.”

Moving the event to the Midlands will widen the reach of Rugby Expo, with 75 per cent of the country within a 2-hour drive of the stadium.

Wasps Group CEO, David Armstrong, said: “We are delighted that the Ricoh Arena has been chosen to host Rugby Expo for the foreseeable future. The Ricoh Arena is the perfect environment in which to bring together sport and business and we look forward to welcoming a range of rugby businesses and supporters, from both the elite and community based game. We are fortunate that the Ricoh Arena has a large-scale capacity and are excited about working with Rugby Expo to help grow an event which has already expanded significantly over the past few years.

Exhibition Stand Tender Process for Romania at FITUR

Romania’s National Authority for Tourism (ANT) has said that it will allocate up to 100,000 Euros for setting up its exhibition stand at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR). The show will take place in Madrid between the 20th and the 24th of January 2016.

Translyvania Exhibition Stand

Romania’s stand at FITUR will cover some 180m2 and will feature a huge feature wall dedicated to Transylvania. Transylvania is a region in central Romania known for its medieval towns, mountainous borders and castles.

This is a huge undertaking and we look forward to hearing the results of the exhibition stand tender process.  We very much hope our own TRUSSwire modular exhibition stand system is chosen for the build.

GYMSHARK NZ v5c

TRUSSwire or X-20 as it is also known is the perfect system for displaying large format graphics. Unlike its competitors, TRUSSwire can be assembled without tools.  Available in a range of colours, each system is also fully weather proof – being as effective outdoors as it is under cover.

Being made of composite materials with an aluminum core, this modular concept has an impressive load bearing capacity. For example, TRUSSwire has a weight bearing capacity of 400 Kilograms!
