More exhibition stands than ever before at Jewellery Arabia

The 23rd edition of Jewellery Arabia was held recently (18-22 November) at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The exhibition’s hosts market Jewellery Arabia as the “largest and most prestigious jewellery exhibition in the Middle East, showcasing world famous names and artisan designs from across the globe”.

Held under the patronage of the Bahraini Prime Minister, the exhibition regularly attracts more than 600 exhibitors from 30 countries who showcase their products in a space of more than 16,500 square metres.  And this year, there were more exhibitors and exhibition stands than ever before!

Ahlam Janahi, a board member at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry said the exhibition’s success has helped stimulate tourism, in particular “exhibition and conference tourism”.

Local businessman Kazem al-Saeed witnessed the launch of the exhibition in 1992 by virtue of his work at the Bahrain Exhibition Centre.  He said “Jewellery Arabia enjoys a prestigious status regionally and globally. It is a prominent landmark in the exhibition industry and has become the most important specialised exhibition in the Middle East.”

Here at 200m2 we think that Jewellery Arabia is a great show.  Given our growing portfolio of EMEA based clients, we regularly manage exhibition projects in the region.  If your business is looking to exhibit in the Middle-East in 2015 and beyond, why not get in touch.  We can be reached anytime within office hours via 020 333 200 92.

Is it the end for Earls Court?

The demise of Earls Court, one of the UK’s most famous exhibition venues, looms ever nearer after the practicalities for its demolition were approved by the London boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham.

Hopes had been revived to save the venue after Labour took over Hammersmith & Fulham council in the June local elections. The party pledged to review the plans to redevelop the site the current exhibition halls stand on.

However, the government chose not to call-in the approved scheme for a public enquiry, removing potentially the biggest legislative challenge the scheme could face.  Council planning officers then used delegated powers to approve the specific demolition and waste management plans.

Earls Court Exhibition StandsThe Earls Court redevelopment scheme, led by owner Capital & Counties Properties, has been in the planning system since 2011. The £8bn plans, drawn up by Sir Terry Farrell, for developer Capital & Counties also involve demolishing two council estates.

The Earls Court scheme will create 7,500 homes and 10,000 jobs and bring £450 million in community benefits and improvements to the local area, including new roads, schools, health centres and transport improvements.

The Association of Event Organisers has led strong opposition to the scheme.  Sadly, it looks like the demise of this historic venue is now sealed which is a great shame.  Everyone here at 200m2 loves Earl’s Court.  As one of the leading exhibition companies in London, we’ve built lots of exhibition stands there over the years.  We’ll be very sorry to see it go…

Free exhibition stands at SheffEX 2014

SheffEX, one of Sheffield’s biggest business events has announced a special initiative for charities and social enterprises.

SheffEX is running a competition to give away five free exhibition stands to charities, social enterprises or charitable organisations working in the region. Over 2,000 people are expected to attend the event which takes place at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre on the 1st of December.

The first SheffEX event was held in June of 2014 and attracted delegates from across the city and the wider Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire regions.

Event organiser Tony Carroll said: “Attendance as a delegate is free to all employees and volunteers from charities, social enterprises and community groups, but we want to offer a little more support the local organisations which do great work in and around South Yorkshire. It’s about encouraging good causes and businesses to find new ways of working together in partnerships that are mutually beneficial.”

“More than 100 exhibitors are expected at SheffEX 2 and the successful good causes will have the opportunity to network and explain how their organisation makes a difference in the South Yorkshire region. Any organisation or group, small or large, with local roots can apply and it isn’t necessary to be a registered charity.”

Applicants must register for SheffEX and write a pitch to organisers outlining who they are and why exhibiting would benefit them. For more details, visit www.sheffex.com

Messe Nuremberg exhibition hall receives award!

Messe Nuremberg’s Hall 3A has become the first exhibition hall in the world to receive the German Sustainable Building Council’s (DGNB) highest category of excellence (the Gold standard). The DGNB certificate combines economic, technical and ecological parameters and aspects of sociocultural sustainability.

According to Messe Nuremberg, the reasons for this high degree of recognition lie in the comprehensive sustainability concept used in the construction of the exhibition hall. The heating supply for 3A is climate-neutral thanks to the use of district heating, rotary heat exchangers and LED lights. These factors ensure that excellent conditions prevail on all exhibition stands in addition to excellent potential for energy saving.

Peter Ottmann and Roland Fleck, Joint CEOs at the firm which runs the Hall said “In many respects this makes Hall 3A the benchmark for the further development of our company and indicates the direction at the same time. We see today’s award as a key element of our energy campaign and will sensibly supplement this through further measures.”

Johannes Kreißig, executive board of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB), emphasises the importance of this certification: “Today economy and ecology are no longer a contradiction in terms. Hall 3A of Messe Nuremberg is currently the best example that exhibition halls in the 21st century can look really attractive and be highly energy-efficient at the same time.”

We encourage all of clients to look at the wider environmental impact of their exhibition programme including transportation, exhibition storage, recycling and the use of eco-friendly inks.

Exhibitions industry grows in London

Further emphasising the current growth of the UK exhibition industry, Olympia London has announced that three exhibitions booked at the venue have increased their trade space.  Olympia London also reports that trade events across all industries are attracting more exhibitors and visitors year-on-year.

The London Drum Show will now occupy two levels of the venue in The Olympia Conference Centre and Olympia Central Level Two.  The Allergy & Free From Show has upgraded twice, starting in the Olympia West then advancing to Olympia National and now heading for the Olympia Grand.  Additionally, the organiser of Cloud World has confirmed bookings at Olympia Grand for 2015 and 2016 following successful slots at Olympia National.

Commenting on the announcements, 200m2’s Tim Cronin said “The recent growth in London based trade shows is very encouraging. However, I would urge organisations looking to exhibit to be extremely vigilent where the venues for their preferred shows are extending or changing altogether.

Lego Exhibition Stand

“Most companies will be used to exhibiting in the same stand location at the major trade shows every year.  However, when a show grows significantly the footfall to a show can often change dramatically.  The main entrance to the show might change due to the new layout and traffic to a specific section of an exhibition hall might be impacted as a result. Careful planning is therefore essential. ”

“With more and more exhibitors vieing for attention, exhibitors need to work harder than ever before to stand out in the crowd.  At 200m2, we help companies to do this by tailoring the message for each individual show which we then communicate through large-format printed banners.  These banners simple clip into place between our modular exhibition stand frameworks.”

Based in London, 200m2’s solutions combine to create one of the most flexible and scalable exhibition stand systems in the world. Whatever your needs, from exhibition stand hire to an all-inclusive service, 200m2 delivers solutions which mitigate risk and reduce costs.
